Year 8 Innovate New Ways to Feed Yabbies

Our Year 8 Technology Mandatory Class was given five weeks to design, protoype, test, evaluate and modify a design for a feeding system for the yabbies in the school aquaponics set up.

The groups came up with wildly different solutions ranging from frozen food blocks to food cages to slow-release food bits and dried food strips. All the student's work has been entered in a National Fish Design Competition with winners to be announced in July.

“Each student involved is to be commended on their work output,” explained Agriculture teacher Carl Chirgwin, “The designs worked quite overall.”
