Aspiring Musicians Play With The Regions Best at Bandlink

Bandlink

This week we sent some of our most promising musicians to play at Bandlink 2025.

Held at Griffith East Public School, Bandlink offers students in Years 3 - 12 the chance to meet and play with fellow up and coming musicians. They are also afforded the opportunity to learn from some of the best music teachers in the country.

“The main objective of the Bandlink program is to bring experienced tutors to areas that might not otherwise have access to them,” explains Cheryl Walker, the relieving Regional Arts Coordinator for Rural, South and West New South Wales, “The focus of the workshop is to develop the student’s music skills. Specifically their skills on a particular instrument, their music reading that their ability to play as part of an ensemble.”

“With Bandlink, we look at a holistic approach to music,” explains Cheryl, “We’re developing the kids’ ability to play music through breath support, stretches, rhythm exercises and reading music.”

Thank you to the Arts Unit for coordinating such a fantastic event for our students. A special thank you should also go to Rhys Thomas and MRHS – Griffith’s own Hannah Lonnergan, whose hard work co-coordinating the three days made the event possible.
