Orbispace Girls Attend Future of Female Leadership Forum

Orbispace Girls

Last week our Orbispace girls went to Sydney to attend the Future of Female Leadership Forum in Sydney courtesy of our award-winning Murrumbidgee Academy of STEM Excellence.

Held at the Sydney Startup Hub, the forum was the capstone of this year’s Orbispace program. Students had the opportunity to network with many leading female innovators and entrepreneurs during a speed networking lunch and hear from Australia's former Chief Scientist Cathy Foley who gave the keynote address. They also participated in workshops to develop skills in using Canva, AI, Figma, Excel and built confidence and communication skills.

Orbispace is designed to develop knowledge and skills in young female students and to inspire them to pursue careers in STEM. Every fortnight, ten of our Year 8s undertake in Orbispace lessons in the STEM room.

“It was an excellent event and I was very impressed with how well all the students participated,” explains Orbispace supervisor Caprice Skinner, “They asked thoughtful questions, contributed ideas to discussions, showed great teamwork and it was fantastic to see their confidence grow throughout the day. “

The girls will now move onto create a Pitch for the Planet, which will see them once again return to Sydney to present to the rest of the Orbispace participants.

Thank you to Caprice Skinner and Bethany Tyson for accompanying the girls on this wonderful trip!
