A Message from the Principal (Semester 2 2025)

Orbispace Girls Award

Welcome to Semester 2 2025!

With the year well and truly underway, I thought it would be a good time to mention some of the exciting developments at our school.

Now that we have received our official school name (Griffith High School), we will be working hard with our staff, students and parents to establish a school uniform and logo before our official rebrand in 2026. If you would like to have your voice heard, I highly recommend attending our P&C meetings.

The school itself will also be undergoing a significant physical transformation. The foundation has been laid for our new school hall. Around the school, we have added seating to the B-block courtyard and are looking at adding sail shades and a COLA (Covered Outdoor Learning Area) to create comfortable and functional learning and recreation spaces for our students.

We are also proud to announce that the red dusty kerbside along Coolah St is being revitalised with turf, new footpaths and a sprinkler system. We will also be incorporating gardens and shrubbery into the design, so watch this space.

Our sportsmen and sportswomen are once again excelling with our girls’ volleyball team playing at the state finals this week and our open boys’ rugby team representing the Riverina against Chifley College next Friday. Our athletes and cross-country runners will also compete at state in the coming weeks, so we wish them all the best of luck.

On the academic front, our Year 12s are currently knuckling down in preparation for the trial HSC. The experience will no doubt inspire them to great heights in their HSC in late October, early November. I encourage them to take regular breaks and to utilise our talented and knowledgeable staff as they prepare.

Our Murrumbidgee Academy of STEM Excellence is going from strength to strength. MASE’s hard work will see our Orbispace girls return to Sydney to compete against some of the best schools in the state. The Academy are also working hard to prepare for the Lego League in Term 4, where we will host schools from across the region and showcase our amazing STEM resources.

Innovative programs like these have put Murrumbidgee Regional High School - Griffith in contention for the BEST STEM Program for 2025 at the Australian Education Awards on Friday 8 August. The honour has our school shortlisted with some of the best in the country.

Finally, we’re currently laying the groundwork for next year’s enrolments, with bright-eyed primary students from across Griffith and the surrounding area touring the school to prepare for transition.

Thank you, as always to our resourceful, hardworking and committed staff who work tirelessly to provide our students with world class learning opportunities.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of our school or your child’s education, please don’t hesitate to contact me. My door is always open.
