Our open boys rugby league team ended their run in the University Shield this week, after suffering a loss to Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College – The Entrance Campus.
The match, played yesterday at the Tuggerah Lakes Sports Centre, was a tough slog, with a couple of tactical errors costing Griffith the game 28 - 16. Despite the loss, Griffith played in good spirits and the team were proud of their overall performance throughout the season.
Year 12 outgoing captain Salesi Fatafehi will leave the school league on a high after scoring one of the two Griffith tries of the match. Year 11 AJ Misi was the other try scorer.
“It was a tough match that was closer than the score reflects,” explains rugby coach Matt Ruming, “Credit to TLSC. They were a well drilled squad. Unfortunately, however, a few errors at key points stopped us from getting back into the game.”
Sadly, this marks the end of the season for the boys. They can take some comfort in the fact that they managed to make the top 16 in the state.
