Long Distance Runners Battle Rain At Hillston Cross Country

Our long-distance runners put their skills to the test at an extremely muddy Zone Cross Country Carnival last Friday.

Held at the Hillston Sportsgrounds, the athletes endured a day of cold and wet weather to fight for a spot at the Riverina Cross Country Carnival. And fight they did. Of our 34 contestants, 12 MRHS – Griffith students will now compete at the Gundagai Racecourse on 13 June.

“I am extremely proud of how all our competitors conducted themselves in such adverse conditions,” explains school sports coordinator Cailyn Loveday, “All students ran well and with great spirit. Congratulations to all, especially those heading to Gundagai for the Riverina event.”
