Our MRHS – Griffith Dance Troupe performed with some of the region’s best for the Riverina Dance Festival today.
Run by the NSW Arts Unit, the event rotates between Wagga Wagga, Albury and Griffith and sees dancers from as far away as Barham and Young perform. This year the spectacular was held at our very own Griffith Regional Theatre.
The troupe was formed by dance afficionados Erin Fletcher and Hannah Lonergan after putting the callout in early Term 1. It is the first year that Griffith have performed in the event in almost a decade.
The 12 girls performed to Lady Gaga’s hit Abra Cadabra and were choreographed by former Griffith student Teagan Cirillo. The students owned the performance and danced with the confidence of a troupe that have been working together for years.
“Now that we’ve started a dance program, we’re looking forward to finding new opportunities to perform,” explains Mrs Fletcher, “After today’s performance, I think all of the girls are keen to get out there again too.”
