Yesterday five of our school leaders travelled to Sydney to attend the National Young Leaders Day conference presented by Halogen.
The conference, held at the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour, allowed students to network with hundreds of student leaders from across NSW. Our Student Leadership Team (SLT) also got to hear from guest speakers NSW Premier Chris Minns, Australian Olympian Emma McKeon, Young Australian of the Year Dr. Nikhil Autar and Catherine Laga-aia, who will be playing Moana in the new live action film.
Catherine Laga’aia proved to be a favourite speaker for a few of the leaders. “She was so sweet and had such good vibes,” recounts Ella Gaske, “I love how she quoted Moana when she said ‘If you go there’s no telling how far you’ll go!’.”
“Emma McKeon was my favourite,” interjects Max Jamieson, “I loved watching her swim at the Olympics. She left us with her 10 life lessons. The one that most resonated with me was the key to progress is consistency.”
“It was an excellent day filled with many valuable lessons for our young leaders that they will be able to take back and pass onto their peers,” explains SRC supervisor and excursion supervisor Caprice Skinner, “All students should be proud of the way they represented our school.”
