Open Boys Basketball Beat Deni

Last week our open boys basketball team beat Deniliquin High School in the second round of the NSW comp.

The game got off to a sluggish start which the team attributed to jet lag from the trip to Deniliquin. By the end of the first quarter, Griffith were down six points before they decided to get serious and started to play more conservatively.

Riley Curran and Kieran Casey were the stars of the day with Casey scoring 30 points and Riley scoring 11. The Griffith boys ultimately took the day with a final score of 55-30.

“It was a rough first quarter,” recounts coach Sam Ranney, “But they started to really play well in the latter part of the game. They’ll need to bring that performance to Shoalhaven if they want to win the tournament.”

The boys will now play the Southern NSW Regional Finals in Shoalhaven on May 6.
