Three Students Attend Moorambilla Taiko Intensive

Last week we sent three students along to Baradine for a four day taiko intensive with Moorambilla Voices.

The students were invited to the camp by Michelle Leonard herself after her visit in late Term 1. The offers were extremely competitive, with the students being selected from over 4000 students across regional and remote Australia.

The drummers were transported to Camp Cypress in Baradine to participate in four days of movement and drumming workshops. The participants collaborated with world class professionals to create music and choreography for a series of concerts in Dubbo in September.

“It was great to see all my old friends,” exclaims taiko drummer and Moorambilla veteran Lesley Lemoto, “And it was beautiful out there drumming under a waterfall.”

The students will return later in the year to prepare for the Moorambilla Voices concert in September. We have no doubt that the event will be absolutely spectacular!
