Over the past few weeks, Year 10 Visual Design have turned $5 sneakers into priceless works of art.
In Visual Design, students gain an understanding of the world through the areas of print, object and space time design. They explore design conventions, analyse art and apply techniques and artistic concepts to their own work to create meaning.
The class had to research three art movements to prepare for the project. They then had to choose a style and incorporate it into their designs.
The class used posca pens and fabric paint to realise their visions. They then used a water sealant to protect their shoes from the elements.
“The class had to figure out the limitations of their art supplies on the canvas shoes,” explains art teacher Jackie Cunial, “There was a little bit of trial and error, but overall, we are thrilled with how they turned out.”
The students will now move onto watercolour and will work towards illustrating a poem.
